LEGAL & PRIVACY STANDARDS

Privacy Policy

LoamCalc is committed to transparent data practices and data minimization. This policy explains what information is collected, how local storage operates, and how payment transactions are processed.

Last Updated: October 23, 2026

1. Fundamental Commitment to Data Minimization

LoamCalc is an agronomic mathematical lab utility. We believe that horticultural and scientific calculation tools should be freely usable without forcing visitors to create accounts, provide phone numbers, or submit personal identities.

You do not need to register, log in, or disclose your identity to calculate soil volumes, balance compost C:N stoichiometry, or engineer drip irrigation runtime schedules.

2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

To provide a seamless user experience, LoamCalc uses your web browser's standard localStorage API rather than persistent tracking cookies. This data remains on your physical device and is not synchronized to external advertising tracking networks:

  • Unit Scale System Preference (loamcalc_scale):Stores your chosen scale system (Imperial or Metric) so that calculations, units, and guides remain consistent across pages without resetting.
  • Pro License Status (loamcalc_pro_status):Stores an encrypted verification token and Stripe Checkout session reference following a successful Pro pass purchase to unlock white-label PDF generation on your device.
  • Optional Contractor Profile (loamcalc_contractor_name):Stores your business name and contact info if you voluntarily input them for custom PDF spec sheet headers.
  • Voluntary Email Memory (loamcalc_user_email):Stores your email address locally if you voluntarily submit it during PDF export so you do not have to retype it for future project downloads.

You can delete this data at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or site data in your browser settings.

3. Third-Party Payment Processing (Stripe, Inc.)

When you purchase a LoamCalc Pro Single Pass, Pro Monthly, or Pro Annual license, your payment is processed directly by Stripe, Inc., a global certified PCI Service Provider Level 1 payment infrastructure:

  • Payment Data Security:LoamCalc does not capture, transmit, or store your credit card numbers, expiration dates, or CVV security codes on our servers. All payment fields are hosted in secure, encrypted Stripe Checkout environments.
  • Transaction Records:Stripe provides LoamCalc with a confirmation session reference (e.g. cs_live_...), customer billing email, and gross transaction total for tax compliance, accounting, and license validation.
  • Tax Compliance:Stripe Tax automatically calculates applicable sales tax, Australian GST, and European VAT based on your location.

For more information on Stripe's security and data practices, please review the Stripe Privacy Policy.

4. Voluntary Email Communications & Newsletters

When exporting a PDF specification sheet, you are provided with an optional field to input your email address to receive project archives and seasonal agronomic updates:

  • Non-Enforced Option:Submitting your email is completely optional. A direct download button ("Skip and download directly without email") is provided on all exports.
  • Unsubscribe Rights:If you opt into seasonal planting and amendment guides, every communication contains an immediate, 1-click unsubscribe link. We never sell, rent, or lease contact lists to third-party marketing brokers.

5. Web Hosting & Technical Server Logs

LoamCalc is hosted on static web infrastructure provided by Hostinger. Like all web servers, standard non-identifying server logs are generated when pages are requested. These logs may include:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address
  • Browser type and version
  • Referring page URLs and requested file paths
  • Timestamp of page access

These server logs are utilized strictly for network defense, monitoring distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) threats, identifying broken hyperlinks, and ensuring server availability.

6. International Privacy Rights & Compliance

LoamCalc complies with fundamental international data protection regulations:

European Union & UK (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, EU and UK visitors have the right to request access to, rectification of, or erasure of any personal data held, as well as the right to object to automated processing.

California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request deletion. LoamCalc does not sell personal information to third parties.

Australian Privacy Principles (Privacy Act 1988)

LoamCalc adheres to the Australian Privacy Principles regarding transparent collection, secure management, and user access to personal information.
